FRP Bangalore A division of RJ Interiors & Constructions

FRP manufacturing, fabrication and installation in Bangalore

From the first drawing to the last sealed joint, our work happens in one place: our own unit at Jakkur, with our own team on site. That's how we make custom FRP to your drawing and stand behind how it's fitted.

How an FRP part is built up

The same five layers, in the same order, go into everything we mould, from a planter to a facade panel.

    Mould

A polished fibreglass mould sets the shape. It's waxed so the finished part releases cleanly.

  2. 2

    Gelcoat

A pigmented resin laid into the mould first. It becomes the coloured, glossy face of the part.

  3. 3

    Chopped strand mat

Short glass fibres in random directions, wetted with resin. It builds thickness and bonds to the gelcoat.

  4. 4

    Woven roving

Woven glass strands for strength and stiffness, added where the part needs them.

  5. 5

    Back-up layers

More mat and resin to the thickness the part needs. Then it cures and comes out of the mould.

Design and shop drawings

We turn your drawing, sketch or photograph into shop drawings: each element with its sizes, wall build-up, joints and fixings. Nothing is moulded until you've approved them.

For elevations with many pieces, we work out the panel module and where the joints fall, so the finished facade reads the way you drew it.

Pattern and mould making

Every new shape starts with a master: a full-size pattern in timber, plaster or modelling material, finished to the surface you want on the final piece.

A fibreglass mould is taken from the master and stiffened so it stays true through repeated use. Moulds are kept after the job, so a repeat order doesn't need a new one.

FRP fabrication and lamination

Parts are made by hand lay-up: gelcoat goes into the waxed mould first, then glass-fibre mat and woven roving are wetted out with resin and rolled down, layer by layer, to the thickness the part needs.

Larger pieces are moulded in sections and assembled, with steel inserts, flanges and fixing points laminated in where the installation needs them.

Gelcoat, colour and finishing

Colour usually comes from the gelcoat, matched to a shade-card reference or a sample, in gloss or matt. Pieces can also be painted, including textured and metallic finishes.

After demoulding, every piece is trimmed, its edges are dressed, and it's checked against the drawing before it leaves the unit.

On-site FRP work

Some FRP is made where it's needed: waterproofing over terraces and in wet areas, and linings inside tanks, sumps and gutters. Our team prepares the surface and lays the laminate in place.

FRP installation services

Our own team installs what we make: column covers closed round RCC columns, cornices and facade panels on brackets and subframes, arches round openings, gutters on their hangers. Joints are filled, sealed and finished on site.

For sites outside our installation area, we supply with fixing details and talk your contractor through the work.

Questions about our manufacturing

Do you make FRP to our own drawings?

Yes. Most of our work is made to the client's drawing. We prepare shop drawings from it for your approval before making the master and mould.

Why does a new shape cost more than a repeat?

A new shape needs its own master and mould before the first piece can be made. Once the mould exists, each further piece only needs moulding and finishing, so it costs less.

Can you laminate fixings into the part?

Yes. Steel plates, threaded inserts, flanges and lugs can be laminated in during moulding, where your fixing details need them.

Why use your team for installation?

The team that made the piece fits it, so one company answers for both the piece and the way it's fixed.
