About FRP tanks and MS FRP tanks

We make FRP tanks to the capacity and shape your site needs: vertical and horizontal cylindrical tanks, rectangular tanks, and MS FRP tanks, which are mild steel tanks lined on the inside with FRP.

FRP doesn't rust, so it suits water, effluent and many chemicals that eat through bare steel. For chemical storage the resin is chosen for what the tank will hold, so tell us the chemical, its concentration and its temperature when you ask for a quote.

Applications for FRP tanks and MS FRP tanks

  • Water storage

Overhead and ground-level tanks for apartments, schools, farms and factories.

  • Effluent and sewage treatment

Tanks and linings for ETPs and STPs, where concrete and steel corrode.

  • Chemical storage

Acids, alkalis and dosing chemicals, with the resin matched to the chemical.

  • Process tanks

Pickling, plating and rinse tanks, often as MS FRP so the steel takes the load and the FRP takes the chemical.

  • Rainwater harvesting

Collection and storage tanks for rooftop rainwater.

Customisation options

Everything we make is made to order. These are the choices you make with us before moulding starts.

Shape and capacity
Cylindrical or rectangular, vertical or horizontal, sized to the space you have.
All-FRP or MS FRP
All-FRP for lightness and corrosion resistance; MS FRP where you want a steel structure with an FRP lining.
Resin
Chosen for what the tank holds and how hot it gets.
Fittings
Manholes, flanged nozzles, vents, overflows, drains and lifting lugs, placed to your drawing.
Colour
Any gelcoat colour outside. An opaque tank keeps sunlight off stored water, which limits algae.

FRP tanks and MS FRP tanks: styles we make

Drawings of the main styles. Each can be sized, detailed and finished to suit your project.

  • Drawing of a vertical FRP storage tank on a plinth, with manhole, nozzles and level gauge
Vertical FRP storage tank Dished-top vertical tank with stiffening ribs, a manhole, an inlet, an outlet nozzle and a level gauge.
  • Drawing of an open rectangular MS FRP tank with a dark steel frame and an FRP lining
Rectangular MS FRP tank Mild steel tank with an FRP lining. The red line marks the lining at the open top.
  • Drawing of a horizontal FRP tank on two steel saddles
Horizontal FRP tank Horizontal tank with dished ends on steel saddles, for limited headroom.

How it's made and fitted

Made in our unit at Jakkur, Bangalore, and fitted by our own team.

  1. Tell us the duty

What the tank holds, the capacity, the space, the temperature and where the pipes connect.

  2. Drawing

We draw the tank with its fittings and send it to you for approval.

  3. Lay-up

The shell is built up in layers of glass fibre and resin to the thickness its size and contents need. For MS FRP, the steel tank is fabricated, cleaned and lined.

  4. Fittings and checks

Nozzles and manholes are fitted and the tank is checked before it leaves the unit.

  5. Delivery

We deliver the tank and set it in place on a level base.

Typical jobs

The kind of work we're asked for most often.

  • An apartment block replacing rusted steel overhead tanks with FRP tanks of the same capacity.
  • A factory effluent plant lining a corroding mild steel tank with FRP instead of replacing it.
  • A plating unit ordering rectangular MS FRP rinse tanks sized to its production line.

Questions about FRP tanks and MS FRP tanks

More answers on our FAQs page.

What is an MS FRP tank?

A tank built in mild steel (MS) for strength and lined inside with FRP, so the contents only touch the FRP. It combines the rigidity of steel with FRP's resistance to corrosion.

Can you line our existing tank with FRP?

Often, yes. If the steel or concrete is sound, we clean and prepare the surface and lay an FRP lining over it. We'll look at the tank first; badly corroded steel may need repair before lining.

Which resin is used for chemical tanks?

It depends on the chemical. Isophthalic polyester resin covers water and many mild chemicals; vinyl ester resins are used for stronger acids and alkalis and for higher temperatures. Send us the chemical details and we'll confirm what we'd use.

Can FRP tanks hold drinking water?

FRP tanks are widely used for water. If the tank will hold drinking water, tell us at the start so the materials and the inside finish are chosen for it.

Drawing of FRP waterproofing

FRP waterproofing
